Call for Speakers.

The stage is set. All that's missing is you!

We're on the hunt for thought leaders, mischief makers and digital legends like yourself, to join us and create Something Digital for Queensland!

Spread across multiple stages and various activations, Something Digital will once again be welcoming almost 100 incredible digital legends as speakers, panellists, moderators and general mischief makers. 

The theme for 2022 is Reality Bites. There is no way to sugarcoat this. Putting a positive spin on the state of the world won’t change reality. Only we can. We can choose to view the chaos of the world though an opportunity lens, and use that to create a better future for all of humanity.

Our program first approach

Something Digital was created to build capabilities, bring our digital ecosystem together and showcase the great innovations that are happening right here in our backyard.

To achieve that we are very proud to take a program first approach. This means that we design the content first and then find the speakers.

We work with our tribe of digital legends and countless other industry professionals to curate a program that delivers tangible solutions to challenges centred on business growth, moral conundrums and societal problems - all with a digital lens of course! 

The program has a number of moving parts to satisfy diversity in terms of content (sessions, blocks, panels etc) and speakers (industry, size, role, seniority, gender, ethnic backgrounds etc). 

Acceptance or rejection in this call for speakers is not a reflection of your capability, it's all about fit. As the program and speakers mature, so might the requirements and we might also reach out later. 

What we are looking for

We are looking for 2 types of speakers:
  • Those able to speak on a specific topic or session (20 mins) 
  • Panellists ready to join a conversation, debate or discussion

  • Web 3.0
  • Net Zero
  • Olympics
  • Talent
  • Responsible AI
  • Digital Ethical Conundrums
  • Branding
  • Storytelling
  • Well being

Application overview

A few important notes on the audience:
  • They are experienced when it comes to digital innovation, so please, no 101s on how to build a website, start a social media strategy or design a basic campaign.
  • They will hail from various industries, roles, and company types, so some sessions will be more generic, others more specific, and that is completely fine. 
  • They are there to learn, not be sold to. Please no pitches and/or selling.
  • Our audience will expect you to show up. Unless you have the sniffles. 
And a few other things: 
  • We welcome speakers from interstate, however you will need to cover your own travel and accommodation.
  • Please keep the 25 & 26 October free - the program has many moving parts, so we won’t be able to commit to a specific time until we get closer. 
  • We also won’t be able to confirm a particular stage until we get closer which means that some of your sessions will be recorded/streamed, others won’t. 
  • As a speaker you will be able to attend the rest of the festival for free (of course). 
  • We do not remunerate speakers - unfortunately the economic realities of Something Digital makes this impossible. 
  • You will need to adhere to whatever covid safe plan will be in force at the time. Some requirements are annoying, so please be flexible and bear with us.
